Semester 1

Glen Clova

DAY Trip 1 – Sat 17 September 2022

Heading up to Glen Clova for a day with a variety of walks on offer. Walk difficulties ranging from mild low level walks to more intense munro summiting.

Braemar

Trip 1 – Fri 23 – Sun 25 September 2022

Staying in Muir Cottage for our first trip, we’ll have access to the South and Eastern Cairngorms, and hopefully we’ll have an instructor or two for new folk

Steall and Glen Nevis

Trip 2 – Fri 7 – Sun 9 October 2022

Right in the heart of Glen Nevis, Steall Hut gives fantastic access to world class walking, scrambling and climbing right from the door. Note the 45-minute walk in, including crossing a wire bridge, and that running water and electricity are NOT guaranteed!

Crianlarich

Trip 3 – Fri 21 – Sun 23 October 2022

Inverardran Cottage is very comfortable and has access to hills around Ben More right from the door. Also, very near the facilities (…pubs) in Crianlarich

Glen Etive

Trip 4 – Fri 4 – Sun 6 November 2022

Anyone who can pronounce Inbhirfhaolain wins a special prize. The hut gives excellent access to the hills around Glen Etive and Glen Coe.

Spean Bridge

Trip 5 (Christmas Meet) – Fri 25 – Mon 28 November 2022

On the club’s traditional Christmas Meet we’ll all get together and make a big Christmas dinner. We may even have some early season snow on the Grey Corries nearby! We’ll be staying for 3 nights (so 4 days) in Spean Bridge Village Hall to get us all ready for exams

Semester 2

Ballachuilish

Trip 6 (pre – semester) – Fri 13 – Sun 15 January 2023

Before the start of the second semester, we’ll be hoping for good winter conditions when we stay at the Alex MacIntyre Memorial Hut. Excellent access to the hills above Ballachuilish, or Nevis for those feeling brave (and appropriately experienced!)

Laggan

Trip 7 (Burns Meet) – Fri 27 – Sun 29 January 2023

Once again, we’ll be cooking up a big load of haggis, neaps and tatties for our burn’s meet. Cam may bring his pipes – earplugs strongly advised. Laggan is well positioned to access both the Cairngorms and Creag Meagaidh – both good options for winter walking and climbing.

Glen Coe

Trip 8 – Fri 10 – Sun 12 February 2023

The club will make a hotly anticipated return (by Cam specifically) return to Lagangarbh Hut. The Hut gives access to all Glen Coe can offer straight from the door. Everyone will need to be on their best behavior here though …

Feshiebridge and Aviemore

Trip 9 – Wed 22 – Fri 24 February 2023

A chance to get away midweek for once! During the February Holidays we’ll be staying at Mill Cottage in the Cairngorms.

TBC

Trip 10 – (likely Dalwhinnie)

Lake District

Trip 11 – Fri 24 – Sun 26 March 2023

England?!?! Shock and Horror!?!  As much as it pains me to admit it, the lakes are full of quality climbing, scrambling and walking. We’ll be staying a little closer to Scaffel Pike this time at Little Langdale Cottage, which is the cutest name ever for a hut.

Torridon

Trip 12 – Fri 7 – Mon 10 April 2023

Just before exams we’ll head up to Torridon Community Hall for 4 days (3 nights). Torridon offers some of the best bouldering and remote ridges in Scotland.

Arran

Trip 13 (after exams) – (TBC)

After exams we can enjoy a nice wind-down trip to the Ilse of Arran, where we’ll likely be camping in Glen Rosa with loads of options all over the island. Also, the ferry over is pretty cool!
